John Walker, Ph.D., LMFT

John Walker is a licensed marriage and family therapist, and an AAMFT approved supervisor. He earned his Ph.D. and Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Michigan State University. In addition to being a marriage and family therapist at the Hockessin Center for Change, he is the program director of Family Connections, a program in Loudoun County, Virginia for difficult teens and their families. He also consults to schools on children with behavior problems, is a speaker at professional and parent conferences, facilitates Grand Rounds at Christiana Care, and is a husband of 15 years and the proud father of two children. Because John has worked with hundreds of families and couples over the past 20 years, he can offer new clients dozens of concrete and practical strategies that have worked for others. His directive, yet respectful approach allows him to work well with some of the most difficult teens, high conflict couples, divorced families, and blended families. John has a passion for working with children and teens and has helped develop a step-by-step approach that helps parents reclaim love and restore limits with their children. His engaging and highly energized presentations appeal to a wide range of audiences including parents, teens, teachers, school counselors, therapists, and medical professionals.
