Monica Bocanegra, Ph.D.

Dr. Bocanegra is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides therapy and evaluation services to children, adolescents, young adults, and families in English and Spanish. She has a specialty in evaluating and treating children/adolescents who have been victims of maltreatment or abuse, and/or who have emotional concerns, behavioral difficulties, or chronic medical conditions (including, but not limited to HIV, Cancer, and gastrointestinal problems). She also specializes in the evaluation and treatment of young children (under age 6). Dr. Bocanegra has experience in conducting therapy and evaluations with most mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, Mood/Bipolar Disorder, eating disorders, ADHD, learning differences, and developmental disorders, as well as adjustment to separation and divorce, parent-child relationships, and blended families. Dr. Bocanegra also has experience with inpatient consultation, consultations with school and other professionals, clinical research and the training of medical residents on basic behavior principles and interventions.

Dr. Bocanegra completed her B.S. at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. She specialized in Children and Families, as well as Pediatric Psychology and has worked in community mental health clinics, children’s hospitals, and medical centers. She completed her residency and 2-year fellowship at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (AIDHC).
